Le droit international considère la destruction délibérée du patrimoine comme un crime de guerre.

Depuis le 24 février 2022, l’Ukraine est confrontée à la destruction dévastatrice de son patrimoine culturel. Les attaques contre les symboles de l’identité ukrainienne, les centres culturels, les écoles, les archives et les musées sont souvent planifiées et délibérées. À l’échelle du pays, en deux ans, l’UNESCO a observé que 343 sites culturels ont été endommagés correspondant à 127 édifices religieux, 31 musées, 151 édifices historiques, 19 monuments, 14 bibliothèques, un centre d’archives.

Cette exposition présente des images collectées par des photographes polonais et ukrainiens qui ont documenté l’effroyable destruction de ces sites en Ukraine.

Il s’agit ici de mettre en lumière un aspect souvent négligé de la guerre : l’attaque contre l’identité et la diversité culturelle. Par ses images, chacun est amené à s’interroger sur l’importance de la préservation du patrimoine culturel au milieu d’un conflit, conformément au droit international, et reconnaître sa valeur essentielle dans la formation de l’identité et de la résilience d’une nation.

Cette exposition coproduite par l’European Heritage Heads Forum et les Halles Saint-Géry a été rendue possible grâce au travail de l’Institut national polonais du patrimoine culturel et au travail de collecte d’images effectué par le Centre polonais de soutien à la culture en Ukraine. Les photographies ont été prises par Marek Lemiesz (PL), Tomasz Grzywaczewski (PL) et Yurii Veres (UKR).

Volgens het internationaal recht is de opzettelijke vernietiging van erfgoed een oorlogsmisdaad.

Sinds 24 februari 2022 wordt Oekraïne geconfronteerd met de verwoestende vernietiging van zijn cultureel erfgoed. Aanvallen op symbolen van de Oekraïense identiteit, culturele centra, scholen, archieven en musea zijn vaak gepland en opzettelijk. In twee jaar tijd heeft UNESCO vastgesteld dat 343 culturele locaties in het hele land zijn beschadigd, waaronder 127 religieuze gebouwen, 31 musea, 151 historische gebouwen, 19 monumenten, 14 bibliotheken en één archiefcentrum.

Deze tentoonstelling toont beelden die zijn verzameld door Poolse en Oekraïense fotografen die de afschuwelijke vernietiging van deze sites in Oekraïne documenteerden.

Het doel is om een aspect van oorlog te belichten dat vaak over het hoofd wordt gezien: de aanval op identiteit en culturele diversiteit. Door middel van deze beelden wordt iedereen aangemoedigd om zich af te vragen hoe belangrijk het is om cultureel erfgoed te behouden te midden van conflicten, in overeenstemming met de internationale wetgeving, en om de essentiële waarde ervan te erkennen bij het vormen van de identiteit en veerkracht van een natie.

Deze tentoonstelling, een coproductie van het European Heritage Heads Forum en Les Halles Saint-Géry, werd mogelijk gemaakt dankzij het werk van het Poolse Nationale Instituut voor Cultureel Erfgoed en het verzamelen van beelden door het Poolse Centrum voor Culturele Ondersteuning in Oekraïne. Міжнародне право розглядає навмисне руйнування спадщини як воєнний злочин.

Починаючи з 24 лютого 2022 року, Україна стикається з руйнівним знищенням своєї культурної спадщини. Напади на символи української ідентичності, культурні центри, школи, архіви та музеї часто є спланованими та навмисними. За останні два роки, за даними ЮНЕСКО, було пошкоджено 343 культурні об’єкти по всій країні, зокрема 127 культових споруд, 31 музей, 151 історичну будівлю, 19 пам’ятників, 14 бібліотек та один архівний центр.

На цій виставці представлені фотографії, зібрані польськими та українськими фотографами, які задокументували жахливі руйнування цих об’єктів в Україні.

Ця виставка, організована спільно European Heritage Heads Forum і Les Halles Saint-Géry, стала можливою завдяки роботі Польського національного інституту культурної спадщини та роботі зі збору зображень, здійсненій Польським центром підтримки культури в Україні. Attacks on symbols of Ukrainian identity, cultural centres, schools, archives and museums are often planned and deliberate. In the last two years, UNESCO has observed that 343 cultural sites across the country have been damaged, including 127 religious buildings, 31 museums, 151 historic buildings, 19 monuments, 14 libraries and one archive centre.

This exhibition presents images collected by Polish and Ukrainian photographers who documented the appalling destruction of these sites in Ukraine.
